US stock futures gained on Wednesday after the United States extended its ceasefire with Iran indefinitely, reducing immediate concerns about a new escalation in the Middle East.
Futures linked to the S&P 500 rose 0.6%, while Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 0.8%. Dow futures also climbed 0.6%, recovering after a weaker previous session for Wall Street.
Markets had recently faced pressure as investors doubted whether Washington and Tehran could secure a lasting peace agreement before the original ceasefire deadline.
The latest extension offers temporary support for markets, although uncertainty remains high. Planned talks between both sides have reportedly collapsed, with continued disagreements and political tensions slowing progress.
Meanwhile, shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz remains limited, as both sides maintain warnings over vessel movements in the region. The area remains one of the most important routes for global energy supplies.
Oil prices eased after recent gains. Brent crude traded near $98 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate moved around $89 per barrel.
Investors are also focused on corporate earnings, with results expected from Tesla, AT&T, and Boeing later today. These reports could influence market sentiment further as traders assess company performance and future guidance.
